Welcome to 3Hounds, a vibrant boutique design studio with roots in both
the tropical shores of Calodyne, Mauritius,
and the bustling streets of Joburg, South Africa!
3Hounds was founded in 2011 by me, Kirstin McKenzie, where a passion for creativity first sparked at the National School of the Arts. From there, I dove into the worlds of graphic design and animation, and my adventure began. My first gig? A 3D artist for South Africa's game company Celestial, fresh off their hit "Toxic Bunny." I hopped in to help shape their next game, The Tainted. Afterward, I shifted gears, bringing my skills to TV production houses and ad agencies as an art director and animator.
I’m mostly self-taught, always leveling up my skills, and have had the pleasure of working on campaigns for some of South Africa’s biggest names—Absa, Standard Bank, FNB, Nedbank, KFC, MTN, Vodacom, DStv, BBC, Colgate, Plascon, Tsogo Sun, and Peermont, to name-drop a few. Beyond borders, I’ve teamed up with FNBQ in Nigeria, and collaborated with smaller businesses in New Zealand, the UK, Thailand, and the US. Here at home, I love partnering with local brands, helping them shine through bespoke corporate identities and animated videos.
So, if you're looking to create something amazing together, don't be shy—reach out! I’m Kirstin McKenzie, the creative mind behind 3Hounds, and I’d love to work with you.
